Join FHU students, alumni, and members of the FHU family on this springtime adventure in Rome. Led by FHU staff members Dr. Rick and Lieh Brumback, this tour highlights the early presence of Christianity in the imperial capital including Paul’s stay and activity there in the first century. The group will visit some of the most famous sites in Christian and world history, including the Sistine Chapel and Vatican museums, the Colosseum, the Arch of Titus, and other sites tied to the Christian faith.

Flight to Italy
- Friday, March 12th
Flight to Rome, arriving mid-morning March 13; travelers will be met and escorted from airport to hotel
Arrive in Rome, Italy
- Saturday, March 13th
Arrive in Rome. Walking tour of San Giovanni district including the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem and the Amphitheatrum Castrense.
Worship & Walking Tour
- Sunday, March 14th
Worship with the Rome congregation; visit the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain; see Santa Maria Via Lata, traditional location where Paul wrote his Prison Epistles; visit the Pantheon and Piazza Navona.
Appian Way, Basilica St. Paul Outside the Walls, Tre Fontane Abbey
- Monday, March 15th
Walk the famous Appian Way; tour the Catacombs where early Christians were buried; Basilica of Paul Outside the Walls (traditional site of his tomb); Tre Fontane Abbey, traditional site of Paul’s martyrdom.
Colosseum, Roman Forum, Mamertine Prison, Circus Maximus
- Tuesday, March 16th
Visit the Colosseum and the arches of Titus and Constantine; Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, the heart of ancient Rome; see the Mamertine Prison, traditional place where Peter and Paul were imprisoned; Circus Maximus, site ancient chariot races and martyrdom.
Lateran Complex
- Wednesday, March 17th
Explore the Lateran Palace; the Basilica of St. John in Lateran, the official cathedral of Rome; see and even climb the Scala Sancta.
Pompeii
- Thursday, March 18th
Excursion to ancient Pompeii, the city frozen in time by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in A.D. 79.
Vatican City
- Friday, March 19th
Tour the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel and the extraordinary art collection; visit the St. Peter’s Basilica and Bernini’s famous colonnade.
Fly back to the U.S.
