About the Trip

Experience old world magic when you join this brand new tour from FHU Abroad. Imagine thousands of twinkling lights, charming medieval plazas, wooden chalets overflowing with hand-carved ornaments, roasted chestnuts, and holiday spices in the air. This European Christmas Tour features festive sights, sounds, and foods of the holiday season and includes Christmas markets in two countries and seven cities. When not exploring Christmas markets, travelers will enjoy walking tours, historic old town centers, stunning castles, and Unesco World Heritage cathedrals. The tour is open to FHU students, faculty and staff, alumni, family, and friends. The trip leaders and organizers are FHU faculty and staff with 35 years of experience hosting international travel for FHU.

Immerse yourself in storybook-like Christmas markets in Cologne, Aachen, Stuttgart, and Frankfurt, Germany.
Visit the charming Alsace region of France that includes Strasbourg (the “capital of Christmas”), and impossibly-pretty Colmar, famously nicknamed “Little Venice.”
Experience a unique “medieval market” in Esslingen, Germany (imagine a Renaissance Faire, but during Christmas).
See Unesco World Heritage cathedrals that are architectural masterpieces.
Enjoy a scenic train ride along Germany’s Rhine River for castle-spotting.
Attend the Royal Winter Magic event at Hohenzollern Castle in Germany and enjoy amazing views.
