 
            WHO: Only current undergraduate students at FHU. Preference for Biology, Chemistry, and Exercise Science majors with a higher priority for students who have attained junior classification (60+ credit hours), however other degree fields and classifications are welcome to apply. Selection will also be based on GPA and depending on the number of applicants, a faculty recommendation form.
WHEN: The dates for the trip are March 20-27, 2026.
WHAT: There will be an individualized course associated with this trip that will take place during the Spring 2026 semester both before and after the trip. Students will have the option to earn either 3 lower or 3 upper division credit hours in biology.
WHERE: Over the course of eight days, you can expect to hike deep into the jungle where you will spend several full days trapping and snorkeling for freshwater turtles. You will be lodged at the remote Belize Foundation for Research and Environmental Education (BFREE) facility located adjacent to the Bladen Nature Reserve. Expect to also explore the jungle and observe wildlife like birds and monkeys on this unforgettable adventure. You can find the full itinerary and more information clicking the attachment below.
HOW MUCH: The cost of this trip – for each of the 8 selected students – is only $1,000.
HOW TO APPLY: Fill out this application by October 14, 2025. Student selections will be announced by October 24, 2025.
